Consistency, Development, and Passion: Meet SSH’s New Lead Instructor, Coach Austin Block

Meet Coach Austin Block – SSH Lead Instructor

We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Austin Block to the SSH staff in 2025!  With an impressive background as both a player and coach, Austin brings the knowledge, energy, and passion needed to help our athletes reach their full potential year-round.

This season, Coach Block will serve as our primary coach for skills sessions, providing our players with consistent, high-level instruction each week.  His steady presence will ensure that players not only build their skills but also track their progress more effectively over the course of the year.

Before joining SSH, Austin served as a head coach and program director with several youth hockey organizations across the country.  No matter the team or location, his philosophy has always been the same: individual player development comes first.  From sharpening shooting and skating techniques to enhancing decision-making in game situations, Austin’s approach develops well-rounded, confident hockey players.

Austin’s playing career is just as inspiring.  He spent four years competing at the University of New Hampshire, followed by eight professional seasons both in the U.S. and overseas.  Now, he’s eager to share those experiences with our players right here in Central New York.

More than just a coach, Austin is committed to building strong relationships with our athletes and their families.  His love for the game and dedication to teaching will make him a tremendous asset to the SSH community.

Welcome to the team, Coach Block — and get ready for an exciting season of skill-building!
